OPF vs Non-OPF: The Audi Exhaust Buyer's GuideAudi · all OPF / non-OPF chassis

Australian-delivered RS Audis from late-2018 onward carry an OPF (or GPF). The filter is part of the emissions design, not just the exhaust — your build path needs to respect that.

Non-OPF chassis

Pre-OPF cars (8V RS3, C7 RS6, early B9 RS4) can run a full downpipe-back system without legal exposure. The exhaust map is wide-open.

OPF chassis

OPF-back systems leave the filter and primary cat in place. They are emissions-safe, audit-safe, and locally compliant.

What to avoid

  • 01Aftermarket downpipes that delete the OPF on a post-2018 chassis
  • 02Decat midpipes sold as 'cat-back' to skirt regulation
  • 03Any system without a stamped flange position on the OPF housing
