EA888 Gen 3 / Gen 4The EA888 is the most-tuned engine in modern VAG history. The good news is that the recipe is now mature — the bad news is that you can still buy yourself into a corner.
Stage 1
Calibration only. Expect 80–100 hp on 98 RON without disturbing OEM hardware. Safe, repeatable, daily-friendly.
Stage 2
Calibration + high-flow downpipe + sealed intake. The point where the engine stops feeling 'tuned' and starts feeling factory-fast.
Stage 3
Hybrid or upgraded turbo. The point where the rest of the car has to keep up — clutch, fuelling, drivetrain.
